  Frontiers Series $20 Note

  

  The Frontiers series $20 bill features a new portrait of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. The vignette on the back is the Canadian National Vimy Memorial located on the site of the 1917 Battle of Vimy Ridge in northern France.

  Frontiers Series $10 Note

  

  The central vignette on the back of the note depicts the Canadian, the VIA Rail passenger train that runs from Toronto to Vancouver.

  The design of the note focuses on the theme of space exploration, including Canada’s ongoing contribution to the International Space Station program through innovations in robotics.

  Museum Reconstruction - Part 3

  Though naturally we are aware that the former Museum space is being gutted, the reality of seeing it empty is still pretty strange for most of us here. In the last blog of this series we showed you the empty cafeteria space that will become the new Museum, as well as some images of the old Museum as it was at the time: stuffed with odds and ends of exhibit cases, the occasional display still on the walls.

  Birds of Canada Series $1000 Note

  

  The note’s face features the Queen’s portrait. On her left is a view of the Parliament Buildings, showing the north side of the Centre Block with the Library of Parliament in the foreground.

  Birds of Canada Series $100 Note

  

  The second note to feature the optical security device was the $100 note, printed by British American Bank Note Company issued in December 1990.

  Printed by British American Bank Note Company and issued in June 1989, the $10 note features a portrait of Sir John A. Macdonald engraved by Thomas Hipschen of the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing.

  The face of the $5 note features a portrait of Sir Wilfrid Laurier engraved by Yves Baril. Beside the portrait is the Centre Block of the Parliament Buildings as it appeared in Laurier’s day.
